The subject I enjoy in school is Biology. This is because biology is a subject which is close to every single one of us. We syudy about plants, animals and even microorganisms. Through biology lessons, I am able to learn more about things around me, such as how plants respire, how the does the heart function in order to keep us alive, as well as how an amoeba is able to survive despite being a single celled organism. To me, all these are interesting to learn about.
I would like to continue studying Biology when I graduate from school as I am very interested in how living things work and function.
No, I do not think that everyone should go to university. This is because not everyone is academically gifted and not every single person is interested in studying. Everyone is different from one another and I supposed no one would like to be forced into any decision, not mentioning university. Also, some financially stricken families may not be able to send their child to university. Although it is true that entering a university will allow one to coninue studying and may increase the opportunities of being employed, I personally do not think that everyone should go to university as some may not be willing to.

This picture depicts the scene of a Biology laboratory. There are four students crowding aroung a table and performing an experiment. They are handling agar plates. One of them is holding an agar plate and striking it with a metal object. I think the girl is doing the striking, to seperate huge colonies of microorganisms into single colonies fof future experiments. Clad in white laboratory clothes and elastic gloves, the students seemed engrossed in their experiment. I think the white laboratory clothes are to prevent their clothes from getting dirty. The guy on the left hand side is leaning his weight on the table. Staring hard at what the girl with the agar plate is doing, I think he is watching the girl, awaiting to correct her mistakes. Perhaps they have a group assesment task, requiring every group member to asses the performance of one another. This group of students are more likely to be in polytechnics or junior colleges as we do not wear white laboratory clothes when performing an experiment when I was in primary and secondary school. In conclusion, I think the students are enjoying the experiment with the smiles on their faces. Perhaps these students will have to wait for several days before they can clearly observe the appearance of single colonies of microorganisms and conduct experiments on them.

1 Tell me about the house or department where you live.
-Do you think you are a tidy and organised person?
-How do you keep the house or apartement clean?

I live in a terrace house near the school with a family of four people. Even though I have my own room, I still sleep my brother's room because my room is too small to put a bed. Although my brother and I often quarrel because of me sleeping in his room, I am still glad that I have my own room. The chores in the house were initially supposed to be split between my brother and I. However, because of my brother's tight timetable in school, the household chores are done by me since we do not have a maid.
No, I do not think I am a tidy and organised person. This is because I really dislike keeping my stuff and will usually leave them lying around. Once one pushes open the door, one will see textbooks scattered on my table, stationaries thrown everyway, papers and worksheets lying on the floor and all the reference books messily chucked on the shelf. Sometimes, it is hard for me to hunt for my worksheets and I will have to flip through every single stack of papers on the floor. Recently, teachers have been issueing out a lot of notes and worksheets and I have been trying my best to make sure all the worksheets are "safe and sound". I am trying my best to make sure I file my worksheets weekly and not scatter them all around.
When I have completed my homework during the weekdays, and also done my revision, I would help to sweep the living room and try to pack my room, although I always end up giving up half way. I would also help to wash the kitchen floor every saturday and wash the dishes on alternate days. Because my parents are busy, I would try to help in some of the simple chores.

This picture depicts a scene of a hawker centre. There are many people working together, cleaning up the tables, chairs and floor. There are also curious passers-by watching the people cleaning up the place. I can tell that it is a hawker centre as a HDB flat can be clearly seen at the background and hawker centres are normally situated near housing estates. Perhaps it is weekend now and all the people cleanig up are the food sellers of the hawker centre and have agreed upon one another to do cleaning up that particular day to ensure the hygiene of the place. There are many curious people staring at what the people are doing. I think they are residents nearby and wanted to go there to have some food just to find out that all the stalls are closed. Some may also be curious passers-by to see what the people there are doing. At the right hand side of the picture is a lady with short hair, a watch and a tank top. She is holding a water pipe and spraying water on the areas needed to be cleaned. I think using the water pipe is a good idea as it is a fast and efficient method instead of carrying heavy pails of water. She is also wearing a pair of boots to keep her feet dry. In conclusion, cleaning the hawker centre is good as the cleanliness and hygiene of the place will actually attract more customers and will be beneficial for the food sellers as well as the people eating there. This is because people will normally avoid purchasing and consuming food in a dirty surrounding. Thus, I think such cleanings should be done regularly to maintain the cleanliness of the place.

1 Tell me about a subject at school you enjoy.
-Do you like working with your hands? Why, or why not?
-Is it better to learn from doing things, or from reading about them?

The subject I enjoy in school is Biology. This is because biology is a subject which is close to every single one of us. We syudy about plants, animals and even microorganisms. Through biology lessons, I am able to learn more about things around me, such as how plants respire, how the does the heart function in order to keep us alive, as well as how an amoeba is able to survive despite being a single celled organism. To me, all these are interesting to learn about. I like it also because we have practical lessons. I can remember one experiment where we get to fill a real heart with water and see how the valves work. We also got to dissect it later, to better understand the parts of the heart, as well as how exactly the heart look like, instead of just looking at the diagrams and pictures in the textbook. I prefer working with my hands because it feels more real when you get to touch them with your hands. Perhaps it is because I am a more visual person where I prefer to see how things work themselves, such as how reactions happen, instead of memorising how they happen. Im my opinion, it is better to learn things by doing them instead of reading them because tht information will be easier to be absorbed and it is a more enjoyable way to learn things. Sitting in a classroom for a complete hour listening to facts can be boring and students will most probably doze off, unlike practical lessons where students are exposed to the experiment itself.

This picture depicts a scene of the physics laboratory. There is a group of student doing their science practical at the foreground. The group of people consists of four students and a teacher. The students appears to be jotting down notes on their exercise books. I can see that they are students because they are all clad in similar uniforms. In the middle of the picture, a pulley system is hung on the retort stand to show the students how does a pulley work. On the left hand side of the picture is a bespectacled teacher with curly hair, demonstrating how the pulley works. She appears to be explaining to them what happens when the rope is pulled. The boy on the right hand side appears to be very interested in the set up and is craning his neck forward to take a closer look at the set up. Holding a mechanical pencil, the bespectacled girl beside the teacher is staring hard at the setup. Perhaps she does not really understand what the teacher is talking about and is going to ask her later after the lesson. I think the girl might be afraid to disrupt the teacher's lesson and thus is holding back her doubts. In my opinion, learning through practical lessons is a very useful way as students get to do hands on work instead of staring at the teacher in classrooms telling them facts. This way students can absorb faster and understand theories through the practicals they had gone through.

T2W27 Escalation of Disaster VII

Despite the fact that he wanted to forget his father, he was angry when he heard someone besmirching his father's name. He let out a stream of invective, countering others' vitriolic criticisms. "Hey you son of a bitch, didn't you say you wanted to forget your father?" yelled a voice from behind. He wanted to respond, but his voice faltered as he tried to speak. Bereft of hope that he was never going to leave this situation, he knelt down and started crying...

He was a boy he evinces great intelligence, he could produce cogent reasons for anything and everything, but he can no longer attend school. His friends last time cast ,hostile glances on him, taking immediate aversion the moment they saw him in normal tee shirt and jeans..

T2W25 Escalation of Disaster V

Jimmy tried to obliterate all the memory of her father. "You'll live to rue it!" yelled his mother once aware of Jimmy's attempt to forget his father. He attempted virile pursuits like rowing and marathons, as he just needed to keep his mind occupied to stop thinking about his father. He even took up a job, with the excuse of wanting to pay his father's debts. Jimmy worked long hours, to the detriment of his health. This faithful night, a conflagration started and devoured his home...

something tells me this series of story is so sadist.. :D

2 Some people say that children should take part in more outdoor activities. What do you think?
-why do many children enjoy computer and/or video games?
-what do you tink might be som eof the disadvantages of these games?

I agree to the statement that children should take part in more outdoor activities. This is because children nowadays are all more interested in computer games. They would spend hours with their eyes glued onto the screen and refuse to stop. Engaging in more outdoor activities will allow the child to expose to newer things and get closer to nature. Children may also learn more about the environment and get exposed to more things rather than sitting infront of a computer monitor.

With the introduction of online games like maple, gunbound and dota, more children may get addicted to them as they can not oonly enjoy the game but also chat with others online. Normally, friends would agree to play together and this would be more interesting than playing alone. Thus, these children may becomer addicted to computer games as it can be a common topic in school the next day. Also, some children might play that particular game to fit into their friends' conversation topic the next day.

However, there are some disadvantages of these games. Playing computer or video games may lead to addiction where children are overly engrossed with the moving animation inside the monitor that they refuse to stop. Staring at the computer for long hours is not good for the eyes and may cause myopia. Also, playing computer games for long hours may result in the child not concentrating during lessons the next day. He/She may be thinking about the game during lesson and not pay attention to what the teacher is teaching. And if the child is sacrificing his/her sleep to play computer games, he/she may feel sleepy the next day and might fall asleep during lesson time. This way, the child's academic results may drop drastically.

Therefore, there is a need to urge children to take part in more outdoor activities.

This picture depicts a scene of a group of people in the midst of a sand castle competition. A group of eight people are gathered at the foreground, piling sand into a heap. I can see that it is a competition because there is another group of people behind also gathering together and building a sand castle. In the background, there are leafy trees and the ground which they are standing on is sand. There is also one person buring the other in the sand on the top right hand corner. This place may most probably be a beach as they are a few people suntanning and enjoying themselves.
Perhaps the participants of the sand castle competition are students sent by schools to take part in this competition. They seem to be of various ages, working together in small groups. The lady with a hat on the right hand side of the picture seems to be giving instructions to her team. She is, perhaps, the invigilator of the group of people which have gathered around. As she looks at her team of students, she might be thinking to herself, "The weather today is really hot!" I can see that she has come well prepared as well as a whistle on her neck. Clad with three quarter length jeans and a short sleeve shirt, she is squatting barefootedly.
Before this picture was taken, the participants were probably under a tentage, waiting to be assigned their team numbers and the area in which they are supposed to build their sand castles at. I think it is a good idea for students to take part in such competitions. This way they cab mingle with one another and learn more about teamwork. Also, they can get experiences when participating in such competitions as such opportunities are hard to come by.
If I were to give this picture a title, I would call it, "Teamwork". If I were the lady with the haton the right, I would be thinking, "Good luck team, hope you will win the competition!"

converstaion ONE
2 What is your view on where, and how, elderly people should live?
In my opinion, I think elderly people should live under the care of their own children, in their own houses instead of being sent to elderly homes. One may ask why. The answer is simple, think about when you are a baby, helpless and crying, who was the one who fed and took care of you? Parents. When you are in Primary School, who was the one who send you to school? Who paid the school fees? Parents. When suffering from setbacks, it will also be parents that actually talk one through it, consoling and giving advises. For what the parents have done, it is like a obvious that the children, now grown to adults, should in turn take the responsibility of taking care of the parent. The elderly people should be treated with respect and care and perhaps be given priority. Sending them to elderly homes seems like a pushing of responsibility for the children.
However, there are always two sides on a coin. Some adults may be busy with their careers and have no time to take care of the eldery people, hence neglecting them. Being left a home alone, the elderly people will feel bored. Imagine oneself in an enclosed area with four walls staring back at one, this will be especially so for those who have difficulty in walking around, unable to go and meet their friends. This way, the elderly people would be very lonely and sending them to an elderly home will be a better option.

if you could design a special home for the elderly, what would it include?
If i could design a special home for the elderly, I would include a nice garden in front of the house. This could keep the elderly occupied, by watering the plants, so that the elderly would not get so bored at home. Also the special home must include all sorts of entertainment device as research has shown that elderly people playing games will actually exercise their brains so that they would not get senile at a younger age. Also, the stairs will have to have a special function of being able to transport wheelchair-bound elderly up. This will ease the movement of elderly people to the part of the house they want to go to. Overall, the special home will include devices that would allow convienience for the elderly people living inside.

should healthcare and nursing homes for the elderly be free of charge?
In my opinion, I think healthcare and nursing homes should be free of charge to a certain extent. This is because a free nursing home will generally mean more elderly people living there as many adults will claim that they are busy and just leave their parents there. Overtime, the nursing homes may not evfen be able to cope with the number of patients being sent in. However, considering those with financial problems and have no ability to take care of the elderly people, the nursing homes could be a better choice for the elderly people to receive better medical needs and attention. But if the cost of nursing homes is beyond the amount the person can pay, the elderly people would not be able to get the medical attention he/she needs. Therefore, healthcare and nursing homes should be free of charge to a certain extent so that those with financial difficulty could benefit from it.

PICTURE DISCUSSION ONE
This picture depicts the scene of some elderly people engaging in a game in a nursing home. One old lady had tossed a ball to a younger lady, who is probably the nurse in charge of that activity as she is dressed in a nurse uniform. I can see that it is scene of a nursing home because all the elderly pepole are dressed somewhat similar to one another. Most of them are wheelchair bound and they are also positioned in a circle and not scattered everywhere.

In the background is the scenery that is being viewed out from the windows of an enclosed area. The elderly people are positioned on a nicely tiled floor and there are lights and fans on the ceiling. One old lady is tossing the ball to the nurse . By looking at the fixed gaze on the ball, i can see that the other elderly people seemed engrossed in the game as well. There is another nurse half squatting on the floor, preparing to assist.

Perhaps these elderly people are parents of working people and are sent here by their children who might be unable to take care of them due to time constraint. These elderly people are placed in the same room and positioned in a circle. Perhaps it is the games time for the elderly people to excercise while having fun.

The bespectacled wheelchair bound old lady at the right hand corner of the picture seems to be enjoying the game. From her enthusiastic participation, she appears to be enjoying herself while the other elderly people are eagerly waiting for their turn.

Before this picture was taken, the elderly people were probably all just sent to the nursing home by their children before the children leave for work. This nursing home could be a neighnbourhood nursing home near residential areas so that adults can convieniently bring their parents to the nursing home in the morning when they leace for work and bring them home when they return. This way, adults can work with an ease of mind and not have to keep worrying about their parents being left alone at home. Also, elderly people may get bored being left at home alone, especially when they are wheelchair bound and walking around is a difficult thing to do. Going to a nursing home will allow elderly people to ineract with one another and the elderly people will not feel bored. This way, it is like a win-win situation for both the adults and their elderly parents.

If i were to give this picture a title, I would call it "Engrossed in a Game". If I were the elderly beside the one who had just tossed the ball, I would be thinking :"YES. IT IS FINALLY MY TURN!"

Her husband's death left her vulnerable and depressed and Jimmy had made sveral entreaties to God, hoping their lives would turn for the better. He used to be a bigot, intolerating anyone who thinks that his father was mean. It was a sudden intense moment when he abhorred his father to leave them. Grabbing the photo frame with his family photo in it. He slammed it on the floor contemptously.

Unwilling to enunciate his living conditions to his predagogue, Jimmy remained very silent on his last day of school. His heterogeneous clique of friends were puzzled when the usually talkative him did not utter a single word. He hung his head low when he left school. However when he reached home, a more catastrophic sight stunned him. His mother lay there, still on the floor, motionless. He can vividly rememver it has been approximately a decade since her mother last fainted, but he did not know what to do..

T1W10 music

Music has a puissant effect on me as it will affect my mood depending on where I was and what I was listening to. Maudlin songs would usually bring about thoughts and it gives a very calming effect. For those who are bad tempered and always on the verge of exploding could try listening to sedimental songs if they get annoyed at times. In a touching movie when a hero dies, lugubrious music could cause one to break down in tears. Disparate songs always give people a different feeling at all times. One might even feel his vicissitudes being forgotten when one indulge in a light-hearted, joyous song.

T1W9 regret

Staring at the wedding photo hung on the wall, a feeling of nostalgia came over her. It all started out very well, with the normal husband and wife romance, until he got addicted to gambling. He struck jackpot once, they had a sumptous feast, he underwrited the cost of an overseas holiday, he spent the money on everything. Afflicted with megalomania, he tried again. The trigger of the jackpot, he pulled repeatedly. And soon, profigate husband spent all his salary on gambling and alcohol.

He was a wealthy banker --- urbane and sophisticated --- and he was Jeanie's next target. Myraid of faces were seen walking on the streets of the place she was supposed to strike. Scanning from face to face, it seemed like an abortive attempt to search for the man. Just then two men walked past her, talking," I seriously do not think that Jim should not receive the most pay in the bank. He is like a itinerant man who travels when he pleases, he just went on cruise without informing anyone... ..." Upon hearing so, Jeanie dragged her feet home and was no longer romping. Taking a cursory glance at the surroundings, the babysitter's glance laid on the refrigerator. As the gregarious couple went to introduce themselves and make friends at the home-thrown party with a coterie of people who met at a club. The girl made a bee line for the refrigerator. Cooling air swept past her as the door opened.
The altruistic couple saw her and went over with a cup of cocktail and some snacks,"How about some snacks?" The girl gave a shy smile.

The bride ran out of the hall, feeling as though she had consumed a lethal dose of poison. She felt hopeless. The scenario that has just happened just does not conform to the usual stereotype of a blissful marriage.
Just then, it started raining. The rain sent everyone scurrying for shelter, but the lady just continued walking, and walking. She had no idea where to go, and where she was heading, but she just walked. "HEY WOMAN, GET OUT OF MY WAY!" a stentorian tone sounded, and the lady realised, she was in the middle of the road. The comments did not nettle her, her mind was blank and it felt as though nothing mattered anymore.

A mood of shock permeated the whole hall and it was obvious the bride was repressing the urge to cry, wiping away the tears that rolled down. She casted an incredulous look at the man as she emmitted a loud cry. The drunk man, incontrovertible to be oblivious to what he had done, continued yelling and raving to his hands madly in the air. It came to the ultimate situation where, the lady herself announced the wedding being called off, in tears.

can one improve his/her english skills?

English skills are claimed by teachers to be the gist of studying english. It is essential in all english tests and assignments. But is it possible for someone to improve his/her english skills?
Improving our english skills starts from the basic, elementary part of english. It is possible for someone to improve his/her english skills, but it will be better one starts from young. When one is young, it is easier for the mindset of something to change. If determined to improve your own english skills, one should start early by reading the english newspapers, reading more library materials can help improve how one express his/her thoughts in proper english. Also, it would be of much help if one is in a space surrounded by people who speaks english frequently, it will help the child start "learning" from young.
However, most people tend to give up mid way due to the large amount of time needed, such as using your leisure time to look up for some library materials and also do large amounts of reading.
To sum up, improving one's english skills is possible, only if one persevere through, sacrificing his/her leisure time to do massive reading. As a saying goes, "practice makes perfect".

and i AM aware this is really really short. But i currently have no idea/inspirstion or whatsoever( is that a proper english word?) ^^

Just as everyone thought the groom was not entering, a drunk man in flamboyant clothes barged into the hall. At that moment, everything was silence until someone shouted: "It's the groom!" There was an instant diatribe against the drunk man. Alcohol had weakened his inhibitions, and he started blabbering and raving his hands in mid-air. The timorous bride quickly went forward and tried to pull him away when he suddenly hollered: "Go away, you bitch! Do you think i want to marry you? I don't even like you, or any others of that ilk!" The whole hall gasped while tears slowly welled up her eyes.
